Wellness in a Glass: Home Made Carrot, Ginger, Turmeric Elixir

In this “get juiced” article, we’ll discuss the wonderful healing power of the Carrot, Ginger, Turmeric Elixir. I always feel a boost of energy when I drink this juice and the effects seem to last beyond just the day I drink it. These ingredients each offer some special benefits to the body (noted below the recipe).

This recipe below makes 1 glass of juice (as pictured) about 8-ish oz. and provides a sweet taste from the carrot, a rich earthy flavor from the turmeric root and a bit of a kick from the ginger.

Ingredients

3 organic Carrots, washed with skin on

2 1″ pieces of organic Turmeric root, washed with skin on

1 small piece of organic Ginger root, washed with skin on

Instructions

Put each veggie in a colander and rinse all veggies well in cold water then take a vegetable brush to each item followed by a good final rinse.

Once everything is washed and cut, you are ready to start juicing. Get your pulp bowl and juice catcher in place and start juicing by feeding the items down the chute. I put the veggies in my chute in this order: Ginger first, Turmeric second and Carrots last. You may not see any juice coming out till you put the carrots thru the chute as the ginger and turmeric don’t make a lot of juice, but they do contribute a lot of flavor!

Here are some of the potential benefits this juice has to offer:

      1. Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Turmeric and ginger are known for their anti-inflammatory effects, which may help reduce inflammation in the body.

      1. Rich in Antioxidants: Carrots, ginger, and turmeric are all rich in antioxidants, which can help combat oxidative stress and protect cells from damage.

      1. Immune System Boost: The combination of these ingredients may contribute to a strengthened immune system, thanks to their various vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds.

      1. Digestive Health: Ginger is renowned for its digestive benefits, potentially aiding in reducing nausea and improving overall digestion.

      1. Joint Health: Turmeric contains curcumin, known for its potential to support joint health and alleviate symptoms of arthritis.

      1. Heart Health: Carrots are high in beta-carotene, which is linked to heart health. Additionally, ginger and turmeric may have positive effects on heart health, such as lowering blood pressure and reducing cholesterol levels.

      1. Detoxification: Carrots contain fiber, and ginger may support the detoxification process by enhancing liver function, promoting a healthy digestive system.

      1. Anti-Aging Properties: Antioxidants in this juice may help combat signs of aging by protecting the skin from free radical damage.

      1. Energy Boost: The natural sugars in carrots combined with the invigorating properties of ginger can provide a natural energy boost.

      1. Anti-Cancer Properties: Some studies suggest that the compounds in turmeric, especially curcumin, may have anti-cancer properties.

While these ingredients offer potential health benefits, individual responses may vary. It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have any existing health conditions or are taking medications.
