One day I stared at myself in the mirror and thought, “How did this happen to me?”

If you’ve been there, I see you. That point in life can feel raw, overwhelming—and like an insurmountable turning point.

Right then, I realized I was the only one keeping myself stuck, and I was the only one who could choose to make a different decision.

I wasn’t always healthy. At my heaviest, I weighed 270 pounds. I tried every diet out there—some “worked” for a while, most didn’t. Then a preventable medical issue landed me in the hospital. That was my wake-up call.

Back then, I felt shame, frustration, and self-blame. Deeply. But what I discovered changed everything.

Over time, I lost 140 pounds and have kept it off for more than a decade. But more than that, I found clarity, strength, and myself. I didn’t just shed physical weight—I let go of the emotional weight that had been holding me back. I didn’t just change how I looked. I changed how I lived.

That’s why I created Noble Alchemy—not to say “Look at me,” but to say, “You can do this too.”

My Accountability Partner & Fitness Buddy

Meet Olive, my active senior Lab/Shepherd mix. She may have a little gray on her muzzle, but she’s still the queen of getting me out the door. Those “what about me?” eyes make it nearly impossible to skip a walk — and that’s the point.

An accountability partner (2 or 4 legged) can be the key to turning good intentions into real movement. When you find activities you actually enjoy, moving your body stops feeling like “exercise” and starts feeling like freedom.

Tune Inward

Your body is constantly communicating with you — sending signals about what it needs, what it rejects, and how it’s responding to the choices you make. But with jam-packed schedules, media overload, and the constant noise of modern life, most of us don’t even notice the messages.

When you slow down and give yourself the space to listen, you start to recognize the patterns: the foods that energize you versus the ones that drain you, the activities that make you feel alive, and the moments when stress or imbalance is calling for attention. This awareness is the foundation of lasting health.
